Description

Red Route - 130km

1. Down Onslow Road, riding slowly along to Ngauranga to regroup.
2. There's a short cycle on the Ngauranga lights, so pull up close and don't muck around getting started.
3. Single file from Ngauranga to Petone.
4. Take overbridge at Petone then along Hutt Road.
5. Turn left off Hutt Road to go over bridge and up Korokoro Road.
6. Follow Maungaraki Road, then Oakleigh, Miromiro Road, Stratton St, Cottle Park Drive.
7. Left on to Sweetacres Drive, down Hill Road then out to turn left onto SH2.
8. Head North on SH2 to Brown Owl, regrouping for a toilet stop a couple of km up the Akatarawa Road.
9. Regroup at top of Akatarawa Road and again at Brown Owl.
10. Options for shorter rides include turning around at the Silverstream roundabout, Brown Owl or Staglands.
11. We return along SH2. Watch the area just after Silverstream. Go single file and leave big caps. This has been a black spot for us.
12. Just North of the Melling intersection exit SH2 by taking the first left at Block Road and regoin SH2 at the Petone overbridge.
