Sharing the road is so sweet. Here's the OTB recipe...
This initiative is all about acknowledging the residents that live along highly ridden cycling routes by baking biscuits for them with a message saying "Thanks for driving safely around us".
It's also a fantastic, positive way to put a face to the cyclist, promote safe driving and build tolerance and understanding.
The initial OTB Drop is planned for Sunday the 17th December 2017 around Ohariu Valley - Makara.
If you want to get involved - click the Doughnate button below and we will be in touch.
This 'A Drop of Thanks' project - is inspired by the Kapiti Cyclists project, who over the last couple of years have had great results and feedback – Kapiti picked up on the highly successful Cookie Project - which started in Madison, Wisconsin, USA as a goodwill initiative by the athletes to the community.
We heard about the success of both of these initiative and it’s a great fit for OTB - a fantastic way to bring a bit of positivity to the relationship between cars and bikes something we generally only ever hear about when they clash - we almost never hear how responsible car, truck and bus drivers look after the more vulnerable road users.
Its time to expand the goodwill around Wellington most popular cycling route Ohariu Valley – Makara.
Whilst the Onslow Tar Babies is organising and facilitating the project - it's open to any and all cyclists (and anyone who cares about them) to "doughnate" by; baking biscuits, helping with collection and bagging, or getting involved by helping to deliver the biscuits.
The message of thanks that's included with the biscuits will be from 'Wellington Cyclists' – but tagged with OTB
