It was a fast and dry track that greeted the biggest turn out this year for today's ITT from Makara Beach to Makara Peak. A good bunch of hardy souls left Khandallah for a warm up ride to Makara Beach. Makara beach for a cyclist is well known for wind blown sand, however today the weather and wind were perfect with a slight northerly to assist the riders. Setting out at 30 second intervals, it is a semi flat ride for the first half before a hard slog up one of Wellington's famed Queen's climbs.
Having reached the top safely, all 21 riders looked completely knackered, no one had left anything on the road. Then it was on to a cafe where we had a room booked to embark on the post ride analysis. The line honours to Brett Grant with a blistering time of 18:59 and Rebecca Owen with 24:08.
