This year we are endeavouring to link up our training schedule with the Wellington Masters Cycle Club to expand our ride options and add more variety to our training programme, some of you already ride with the WMCC and will be familiar with their events.
To this end, the WMCC is running a race event this Sunday Feb 5 on the Carrington Circuit west of Carterton starting at 9am. The Club is inviting OTB’s to take part and if you turn up to ride in your OTB kit they will waive the “non-member” entry fee.
This is a graded road race, ie – you race against the people in your grade only and get involved with racing other grades as happens in a handicap road race over a 12km circuit. Grades A, B and C do 5 laps (60km) and D and E do 4 laps (48km).
The meeting point is Dalefield Hall, Thomas Road, Carterton West (adjacent to Dalefield School) where people can change and there are toilets available. It is a 5km ride to the start point and after the race there is a cup of tea/coffee and catch up back at the Hall where race results will be available.
Derek Locke is the race manager, below is a link to the entry form for people to fill in online. However, you can also register at the start.
We will also be looking to link in with other WMCC events later in the year, more on those closer to the time.
