OTB giving back to the community

WFA cheque

Great turnout to present a $5,500 donation to a special cause (too often needed), the Wellington Free Ambulance, particularly nice to see Dirt Baby kit in the mix – complete with a muddy rig.

All activity has risks and although safety is paramount with us all, in cycling gravity generally wins the argument and OTB know first-hand the remarkable service the Wellington Free Ambulance provides.

“When our riders have been in an unfortunate situation where they have needed to call for Wellington Free Ambulance assistance, their team of caring and professional staff are second to none,” – OTB PfL, Ric Van Weede (aka Diesel).

Being the only emergency ambulance service in greater Wellington and Wairarapa, and the only ones in New Zealand who are free, it is very important to recognise their significant contribution.

“Wellington Free Ambulance are true heroes within the Wellington region community. This donation is our way of saying thanks,” says Ric.

Wellington Free Ambulance Fundraising Advisor, Sam Copeland, says the donation is ‘incredible’.

“It’s amazing to have the OTB generous support. Whilst we’re the ones here for you, you’re the ones keeping us free. Thank you.”
