Description

Red Route - 130km

1. Ride through Tawa.
2. Stop at top of Broken Hill Road.
3. Turn left at Titahi Bay Road to ride past Mega Centre.
4. Turn right at Paremata roundabout to ride round southern side of inlet.
5. Up Moonshine, regrouping at roundabout on far side.
6. Take care on the descent, looking out for fallen rocks and rutted corners.
7. Folk wanting a shorter ride can return directly from Moonshine roundabout along SH2.
8. Head to Brown Owl, regrouping for a toilet stop a couple of km up the Akatarawa Road.
9. Regroup at top of Akatarawa Road and again at Brown Owl.
10. Folk wanting an easier ride could turn around at Staglands.
11. We return along SH2. Watch the area just after Silverstream. Go single file and leave big gaps. This has been a black spot for us.
12. Just North of the Melling intersection exit SH2 by taking the first left at Block Road and rejoin SH2 at the Petone overbridge.
